After weeks of mind games with Gail Kim, the French Canadian beauty defeated her rival to win the vacated Divas Championship on Monday’s Raw.

Maryse versus Gail Kim in the Divas Tournament Finals

Gail with a waist lock and rollup for a near fall. Gail with a forearm but Maryse with an Irish whip but Gail goes to the apron to avoid Maryse. Gail with a running clothesline for a near fall. Gail with a forearm and kick followed by a European uppercut. Gail with an Irish whip and running cross body into the corner. Gail is sent into the ring post but Gail tries for Eat Defeat but Maryse holds on to the ropes. Maryse gets a near fall and then she tries for the DDT but Gail with a rollup for a counter and a near fall. Gail misses a charge into the corner but Gail with a kick. Gail misses a cross body but Maryse cannot take advantage because she is down. Gail with an inside cradle for a near fall. Gail with an elbow and then she tries for a victory roll but Maryse hot shots Gail and hits the DDT for the three count.

Backstage: Gail Kim runs into Maryse backstage, who of course talks in French. She translates for herself, saying great things about Kim. Kim says something in French, revealing that she knows Maryse is trashing her in French. She says tonight she’s going to beat Maryse, before walking off.

Finals of the Divas Championship Tournament – Maryse vs. Gail Kim

Maryse and Gail Kim are ready to go but… Excuse me, Vickie Guerrero is out to interrupt. She says it has come to her attention that the Raw Divas have had some disparaging comments about the Smackdown Divas, and being a Diva herself, she can say the best Divas are on Smackdown. Further, since she’s the only Diva that has authority in the building, she’s postponing the match, and turning this into a tag-team match. Maryse and Gail Kim will have to team up against Michelle McCool and Layla.

Gail Kim and Maryse vs. Layla and Michelle McCool

Kim and Layla start things off with Kim hitting a couple of quick arm drags and locking in an arm bar. Kim hits a couple of forearms, but Layla blocks a hip toss and turns it into a pinning predicament. Layla charges Kim in the corner, but Kim is able to avoid it and score a near fall of her own. Maryse goes after Layla, and the referee is distracted, allowing McCool to knock Kim off the apron with a big boot. Layla makes the tag, and her and McCool connect with a double baseball slide. Back in the ring, McCool goes for the pin, and when she can’t get it, she slams Kim’s head against the mat and locks in a rear chin lock.

McCool hits a series of knees to Kim’s back, but when she tries for a back body drop, Kim kicks her in the chest and hits a bulldog. Kim starts crawling to her corner, but she pie-faces Kim into McCool who hits a clothesline. McCool hits the Faithbreaker, and rolls it over into the pin.

Winners: Layla and Michelle McCool

After the match, McCool and Layla stare down Maryse, who backs off. Maryse then makes her way back into the ring, and hits the hair flip DDT on Kim.

Who will net the butterfly?

1. Both Gail Kim and Maryse defeated some of WWE’s most talented divas leading up to this match for the vacant Divas Championship. No one can argue that these two beauties dont deserve to be here.

2. One of the most technically gifted divas, Gail scored a decisive victory over Jillian on RAW two weeks before WWE Elimination Chamber, giving her the exact momentum she needs to steam-roll over the French Canadian diva.

3. While Maryse has been pretending to play nice with Gail leading up to their divas title match, anyone who took French in high school knows that the vicious diva is still as mean and cunning as ever.

Prediction: Maryse may be playing some serious mind games, but Gail isn’t as susceptible as the bratty blonde might suspect. Look for Gail to join the elite group of women who have held both the Women’s and Diva’s championships after her victory at Elimination Chamber.

With no matches in recent weeks, the French-Canadian Diva needs to come out of Elimination Chamber with a win over Gail Kim to become the new Divas Champion or it’s very likely she’ll be off the P25.

After the match between Gail Kim & Katie Lea, Maryse comes out and she applauds Gail’s performance before returning to the back.
